The Washington Commanders have been busy filling out their coaching staff. It started with prominent hires such as head coach Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. Now, the Commanders are expected to add another name to the mix.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Washington Commanders are expected to hire former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson. He was only their offensive coordinator for one season before getting fired. Now, Johnson is expected to take on a prominent offensive staff role for the Commanders.
Johnson had some reported drama with the Eagles. Supposedly, Johnson and QB Jalen Hurts were not on the same page for the majority of the season. Considering the Eagles lost Shane Steichen to the Indianapolis Colts last season, it was likely a rough adjustment for Hurts.
The Commanders have the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Many people believe they will draft a quarterback with said pick. With offensive minds such as Kingsbury and Johnson on the staff, this could be the fresh start that the Commanders need.
